Individualised Learning Support

A child’s attainment can be optimised through tailored interventions and strategies. We provide interventions based on the child’s unique profile, in line with their learning preferences and level of confidence.

Our interventions and programmes employ
positive language, self-directed goal setting and descriptive feedback. This promotes self-belief, motivation and independence, to help ensure the child’s ongoing engagement and success.

An
assessment provides the foundation in identifying the child’s learning profile, and helps determine which strategies are best implemented to support them in achieving their goals.

Specific Learning Conditions

We provide formal diagnoses of learning-related difficulties such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia. In some cases we may recommend the involvement of another specialist, such as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Speech & Language Therapist (SLT).

We can advise on neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and ASD - diagnosis for these requires a Paediatric Assessment.

A learning difficulty can sometimes be masked by a child, and become more evident with increased academic demands.
Some children may meet the diagnostic criteria for one or more specific learning condition(s); while others may simply present learning gaps or emotional barriers to learning.

Gaining an understanding of the underlying cause(s) is an important step in supporting the child towards reaching their full potential.

Assessments

We administer a range of standardised tests (including WPPSI-IV, WISC-V UK, WIAT-III UK & BAS3) to measure cognitive ability, such as verbal/non-verbal reasoning, working memory and processing speed, as well as attainment potential and academic skills.

Along with background information and observation, this data is carefully evaluated
to identify the child’s skills, strengths, and challenges.

Verbal feedback is provided upon completion of the assessment. This is followed by a detailed written report, which outlines findings and practical individualised recommendations for support and strategies in school and at home.

An online follow-up feedback meeting with the school can also be arranged.

Our assessments are conducted sensitively and in a calm, child-friendly environment.

Social & Emotional Wellbeing

A child’s ability to learn effectively is related to their level of social and emotional wellbeing.

This can be influenced by various factors, such as feeling safe and understood, or the quality of relationships with peers and adults.

We offer support and advice on practical strategies and resources to help implement positive changes in related areas such as self-esteem, mindset, concentration/focus and the ability to regulate emotions.

Social and emotional growth can be naturally facilitated in a small group environment. Alongside support in key skills, small group sessions are an integral part of our Learning Programmes.
